DELORES A. “DEE” TAYLOR, 80, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 26, 2015, surrounded by her family, at Unity Point Health in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30th, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Rev. Cris Decious will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. There will be D.A.R. Memorial services on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Delores was born on July 18, 1935 at Sioux City, Iowa to Roland & Pearl (Dahl) Coil. She grew up the Sloan, Iowa area and graduated from Sloan Consolidated High School in 1953. She also graduated from Airline Flight Attendant School in Omaha, Nebraska. She was married to Paul W. Taylor on April 3, 1954 at Sloan, Iowa. She worked for the General Mutual Insurance Co. in Omaha for a while and later for the Farm Bureau Extension Office in Cherokee and the Cherokee Community School System as a secretary for many years, retiring in 1995. She had been a resident of Cherokee since 1959 and prior to this had lived in Eureka, CA. and Omaha, NE. Delores was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women Church Circle, was active on numerous church committees, was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and had been a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years. She enjoyed boating, water skiing, camping, fishing, sewing, cooking, painting, ceramics, bird watching, and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Gloria Jean Coil, a granddaughter Stephanie Stodden, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-in-law.

She is survived by her husband Paul; four children: Beverly (Steve) Stodden of Marcus, Iowa; Dennis (Deb) Taylor of Cherokee, Iowa; Mike (DeAnna) Taylor of Cherokee, Iowa; Paul (Kristi) Taylor of Cherokee, Iowa; 9 grandchildren: Donald (Tonya) Stodden, Justin (Allison) Taylor, Mandy (Chris) Christensen, Trish Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Ashley Taylor, Dallas Shelp and Hanna Henson; 12 great grandchildren: Brandon, Blacey, Brenin, Benjamin and Kallie Stodden; Nolan and Dylan Taylor; Taylor, Kylie, Aurora, Lola and Adair Christensen; her sister Pat St. Onge of Ft. Collins, CO.; her brother John (Trudy) Coil of Sloan, Iowa; also several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
