Erin Leigh Mockeridge, 28, of Burden, Kansas, passed away July 21, 2018 at her home.
Born March 11, 1990 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of Michael Wesselhoff and Deborah Mitchell. She was raised and received her education in Maryland attending Lamb of God Elementary and Middle School and graduating from Mount de Sales High School. Erin followed her mother into the medical field, first attending a medical assistant technical school and then working as a medical assistant for Dr. Madrid.
Erin was united in marriage to Shawn Mockeridge on June 2, 2012. The couple made their home in Baltimore, Maryland until July 2016 when they moved to Burden to be with Erin’s family. She attended the Burden United Methodist Church and enjoyed taking in stray cats and dogs. Erin loved daisies and was an avid swimmer, swimming in the Junior Olympics during middle and high school. Her boys, Walter and Hunter were the light of her life and the greatest joy to her family.
Her family includes her husband Shawn of Burden; her children, Walter James Mello and Hunter Paul Mockeridge of Burden; her mother Deborah Mitchell of Burden; her father Michael Wesselhoff of New York; her sisters Brittany Bruno and husband, Zach of Richmond, VA and Sophie Wesselhoff of New York; her nephew, Oliver; her grandparents, Maurine Smith of Burden and Jean and Jim Wesselhoff of Seaford, DE; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
Erin was preceded in death by her grandfather, Monte Mitchell, her step grandfather, Richard Smith, uncle, Paul Wesselhof and grandparents-in-law, Frank and Rita Mockeridge.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Burden United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Howard Cemetery in Howard, Kansas. A viewing will take place prior to the service beginning at 1:00. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Erin’s name for her children’s education. Contributions may be made payable to the family and mailed to the funeral home at PO Box 720, Winfield, KS 67156.
